This Product Bulletin is intended for distribution to Opent Text Corporation, FirstClass Division’s installed base administrators, Customer Support Center team, Business Development Center team, account managers, and channel partners.
Description
This is an advance notice of the EOL (end of life) of FirstClass Voice/Fax Option support for Brooktrout TR114 PCI cards for analog loop start telephony interfaces.
The affected FirstClass products are inclusive of, but not limited to:
- FirstClass Voice Services V8.0+
EOL is the discontinuance of new releases, SPs (service packs) and quality enhancements for a product. Customer Support Center services remain available for an EOL product that is not older than two major releases of a current shipping product.
Effective Date
At the date of issue of this bulletin, FirstClass 8.0 is the most current release of FirstClass. This is inclusive of the Voice/Fax Option component Voice Services (VS). Voice Services 8.0 fully supports the Brooktrout TR114 card.
Beginning with the general availability of the first major update of the FirstClass Voice/Fax Option components in 2006, which may be designated as either Voice Services 8.x or 9.x, Brooktrout TR114 cards will no longer be supported.
FirstClass Voice/Fax Option Loop Start Interfaces
Brooktrout Technology has announced that they will be discontinuing their TR114 Loop Start and BRI product lines by September 2005. The specific Brooktrout card model supported by the FirstClass Voice/Fax Option is the TR114+uP4L. As a service to our customers, we will continue to work with Brooktrout to administer any valid warranty claims on purchased TR114 cards.
The Intel/Dialogic VFX/41JCT-LS PCI card replaces the TR114, for Voice/Fax Option customers that require a loop start* interface. The VFX/41 is a four voice port and four fax resource card.
* Loop start is a method of seizing a line from the central office or PBX by bridging the outbound and return conductors (tip and ring) of a telephone line.
Customer Support of EOL FirstClass Releases
FirstClass Division policy is to provide product support for FirstClass releases going back two major revision levels. Specifically, at the date of issue of this bulletin, the Customer Support Center will provide administrator support for FirstClass 8.0, 7.1, and 7.0.
