This Product Bulletin is intended for distribution to FirstClass Division's installed base Administrators, Customer Support Center team, Business Development Center team, Account Managers, and Channel Partners.


Description

This is an announcement of the general availability (GA) of FirstClass 11.0 SP4 Server for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux 64-bit platforms. The associated FirstClass 11.0 SP4 component Internet Services Build 11.051 was released earlier (refer to Product Bulletin #265).

The new product versions are:
  • FirstClass 11.0 SP4 Server Build 1024 for Windows
  • FirstClass 11.0 SP4 Internet Services Build 11.051 for Windows
  • FirstClass 11.0 SP4 Server Build 1024 for Mac OS X
  • FirstClass 11.0 SP4 Internet Services Build 11.051 for Mac OS X
  • FirstClass 11.0 SP4 Server Build 1024 for Linux
  • FirstClass 11.0 SP4 Internet Services Build 11.051 for Linux


Availability

FirstClass 11.0 SP4 Server is now available to existing customers who have a valid maintenance and support contract. FirstClass Update Services will automatically download it to your server. If your server’s Update Services schedule is turned off, you may manually initiate an Update Services request to receive the update.

FirstClass 11.0 SP4 Server will also be available for download from FCOL shortly in the following locations:

Please ensure that you have your server specific FirstClass 11 licenses, along with reviewing both the FirstClass 11.0 ReadMe First! text and instructions accompanying the installer thoroughly before proceeding with the upgrade.

New Product Features and Enhancements

The new features and fixes (since FirstClass 11.0 SP3 Server Build 1019) are listed in this section.

Changes
  • Change to not check password compliance for mobile clients (since those devices can't change it).
  • Change to allow Internet Services (HTTP) to open items in order to get the change password form.
Fixes
  • AutoReg crash that appeared in Server Build 1019 has been fixed. AutoReg can now be turned back on.
  • Crash in BA add user (same as AutoReg from last checkin) has been fixed.
  • Multibyte character fixes to subject and pager body.
  • Fixes to WhosOnline - addresses the GetNextHashSlot() crash.
  • Rework of WhosOnline - Addresses the FilterLogged() crash.
  • Crash on failure to open conference or no watches results in uninitialized OCB being closed if not NULL. Crash seen when removing a group from a conference permissions for a community.
  • Mirroring crash, caused by the mirror file being closed during a write operation, has been fixed.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when performing a password compliance check.
  • Novaheap leak TRAK disable.
  • Crash in OSX and Linux call home and send crash files.
Automated Crash Report Handling
  • If crash dump is available, and is > 2 Gig, we no longer give up and delete it. The file size check should have been against the compressed file, not the DMP.
  • Modified crash dump collection procedure.
  • We now always collect a small DMP file on Windows. This way, if the server is manually killed while large dump is being harvested, then at least we get a small one.
  • Modified the crash dump - call home procedure.
1) If crash dump is available but the customer has not enabled sending crash reports
  • we compress the crash file fcs.dmp to date.dmp.gz  (where date is YYYYMMDD_HHMM) and delete fcs.dmp,
  • we compress the crash file fcs.mini.dmp to date.mini.dmp  (where date is YYYYMMDD_HHMM) and delete fcs.mini.dmp,
  • we rename the fcs.old to date.old,
  • we send the Admin a message indicating files are available for tech support,
  • else - process and send.
2) After we compress the dump file, if it is > 2G we split the file into as many parts as necessary all being < 2G and attach. Filenames will be XXX.DMP.gz.00, XXX.DMP.gz.01 etc..
3) While compressing the dump file, if the server is shut down, we now abort compression and allow shutdown.
4) We now send 2 messages if there is a large DMP file.  One message has the large dump file and the other has the rest of the files.  
5) Subsequent crashes will only produce the mini-dump. The completion of a full audit will reset the creation of the large dump file to occur on the next crash.
