Creating Installation Diskettes

If you want to distribute the FirstClass Client on diskette, you can use the diskette images provided with this posting. Two sets of diskette images are availablea set for 16-bit operating systems (like Windows 3.1) and a set for 32-bit operating systems (like Windows NT and Windows 95).  These instructions cover creation of diskette images for the 16-bit version.

To create installation diskettes, follow these steps.

1.  Download the appropriate pair of ZIP files for the 16-bit version (16DISK1.ZIP and 16DISK2.ZIP) into a temporary directory on your hard drive.

2.  Use PKUNZIP to extract the contents of the downloaded ZIP files using the following format commands:

 PKUNZIP -D 16DISK1.ZIP
 PKUNZIP -D 16DISK2.ZIP

Extracting the contents of the ZIP files will create DISK1 and DISK2 subdirectories in the temporary directory.

3.  Insert a blank, high-density formatted diskette into a disk drive.

4.  Copy the contents of the DISK1 subdirectory onto the diskette.

5.  Eject the diskette and label it "FirstClass Client for Windows Diskette 1".

6.  Insert another blank, high-density formatted diskette.

7.  Copy the contents of the DISK2 subdirectory onto the diskette.

8.  Eject the diskette and label it "FirstClass Client for Windows Diskette 2".

9.  You may now remove the temporary directory, and DISK1 and DISK2 subdirectories from your hard drive if you no longer wish to make other copies of the client diskettes.
